Slow Down Diet by Marc David
Donna Lee’s summary…..
I began implementing the suggestions in the 8 chapters immediately. I discovered that all these years of limiting food, overeating later, not taking time to enjoy eating was backwards and working against me. As I began eating with more awareness and slower, incorporating BREATHING into my meals. I noticed I felt not just more full but MORE SATISFIED. I loved the art of savoring what I eat and really tasting, feeling and touching my food. I have never done this practice. I think I’m eating more breakfast and less at dinner, following more closely to our natural rhythms.
- Eat more slowly
- Eat with more awareness
- Breathe into your meals
- Taste, feel, touch your food
- Create a beautiful space to have your meals
Furthermore, I began making mealtime a meditation. I cleaned up my eating area and added table cloth and candle and ate in silence, with a friend or with a piece of soft music. I am also much more selective about where I dine out, choosing more organic, quieter restaurants.. During Lunch hours I chose to eat outdoors, weather permitting, in the beauty of nature.
All of these suggestions are backed up with scientific facts and the author even ventures into the intuitive nature of our body. He teaches us how to listen to our body.
I highly recommend practicing this slower more pleasurable approach to eating. Give it a try, you have to eat anyway!
